What Goes into Every Cedar-Built Greenhouse?

Every kit is framed in premium Canadian Western Red Cedar — that's what makes it a Cedar-Built. From there, you choose your glazing: standard 6 mm polycarbonate or choose our optional clear plexiglass.

THE GREENHOUSE ITSELF

Highest Grade Clear Canadian Western Red Cedar

The cedar frame isn't a feature — it's the greenhouse. Every post, rafter, and beam is cut from the highest grade, knot-free Canadian Western Red Cedar. This isn't a cosmetic choice. Cedar is one of the only structural woods that genuinely thrives in the constant heat and humidity a greenhouse produces.

Decay & insect resistant

.Naturally resists moisture, rot, and fungal decay — perfect for the relentless humidity inside a greenhouse

Best insulating wood available

Cedar has one of the lowest thermal conductivity values of any structural wood, helping keep temperatures stable year-round.

Knot-free, clear grade

No knots, no checks, no weak points. Every piece is straight-grained and structurally consistent from end to end.

Built to last decades

Properly maintained cedar structures last 30–50 years. This is an heirloom, not a seasonal purchase.

Naturally beautiful

Warm honey tones and tight grain that age gracefully. No paint needed — just oil if you want to keep the colour.

BC sourced

The finest Western Red Cedar in the world comes from sustainably managed BC forests.

Then choose your glazing:

"“I love the clear plexi‑glass sidewalls. I wanted something beautiful and practical for my family, and with two boys playing sports, durability mattered. Plenty of wiffle balls and baseballs have hit it and it’s never been damaged. I look forward to many happy years in my greenhouse.” — Sheila, Manchester, NH (8×12)
